Deep in the woods there is a clearing beside a pond that all the animals come to to drink water and to catch up on all the animal gossip of the woods. Around the pond is a community of various sorts of wildlife.

Winterwood

Winterwood

One day I was out driving in the country and I noticed this old rotten tree stump out in a field and it had so much color and texture to the wood that I had to take some photos of it. I came back to my studio and painted the foreground in acrylic and the background in watercolor to give it depth. The rough barn wood frame I made for it blends with the weathered gray of the stump.

IIn the Ozark Mountains there is a very scenic, long and  narrow winding stream called " Little Red River". Trout fishermen from all over come there to fish for trout.

Abrams Falls

Several years ago I took a hike with a friend in the Smokies to a remote spot in the woods called "Abrams Falls". There was a nice little waterfall there and some kids were jumping off the top of it and having a blast swimming in the water. This watercolor is a result of some photos I took of Abrams Falls.
